Customer Testimonial : Maria Murnane
What was your introduction to webinars?
I write romantic comedies, and last year I was invited by a major women’s conference to give a brief session explaining how to get published and how to market books. So many aspiring authors attended and flooded me with questions that I decided to create webinars expanding on each of those topics. Now when people email me asking for advice, instead of answering the same questions over and over I can direct them to the webinars, which are available for purchase through a customized link on my website. It’s a great revenue stream for me, and it also positions me as an expert in publishing and grassroots book marketing. This in turn has led to additional speaking opportunities, which is great exposure for my novels – and my webinars.
What solution were you seeking when you decided to do your first webinar?
I wanted to reach a larger audience by sharing my expertise in a way that is easy to access. After speaking with several professionals who successfully offer content through multiple channels, I learned that hosting webinars is a great way to do this.
Why did you choose BeaconLive?
I was looking for something easy to use. I am not techy! I checked out several major webinar providers and even got a free trial to a couple of them, but just figuring out how to upload my presentation was crazy complicated! From what I could tell, the big guys are focused on helping huge companies provide sales or some other type of training to their employees (for free). BeaconLive was the only vendor I found that was set up for someone like me, an individual expert who wanted to offer just a couple webinars -for a fee- to my non-corporate audience.
What feature or service do you like most that BeaconLive offers?
I love that they handle registration and payment, not to mention the fact that when I call customer support to tweak something here or there, the same person always answers the phone. I also use BeaconLive’s On-Demand MediaHub. I worked with an event coordinator there to customize the look of the page so it looks like an extension of my own website.
What has your attendee feedback been like?
Great! I’ve received extremely positive feedback from people who have experienced my webinars both live and on-demand.
What are the most important things that companies should consider when deciding on a webinar vendor?
Make sure they handle everything you think they’re going to handle. One company I spoke with implied they would take care of registration and credit card processing, but when it came down to it that would have been an extra charge. It also would have required extra effort on my part on the technology side, which I just didn’t want to deal with. My BeaconLive event producer took care of all of those details for me so I could concentrate on preparing, promoting and delivering my webinar.
